.. it was a very good day for shooting when I got the mallard I sent out yesterday and here is another shot of a drake and hen mallard on the go … shot this a while after the first one. The drakes reflection  is off the image to the bottom. Hoping for more conditions like this, but it is a rarity … but patience and frequent visits eventually pay off. There is something that is just so magnificent about mallards and other puddling ducks when they leap into the air to start their flights.

A quiet day as I began putting the presentation together for the Northern Arizona Audubon Society … it is next Wednesday the 22nd, 6PM at the Sedona Library in west Sedona off Dry Creek Road. I put a new PowerPoint together for each presentation I do … mostly new shots not used before. Many hours go into each program and it is such a pleasure to share the beauty and wonders of our area … open to the public so I hope you will be able to make it. The equipment is great and the photos display very well.

Next program will be March 13th 4PM at the Mary Fisher Theater in west Sedona … More on that later, and earlier that week I will be doing a presentation and participating in the Arizona Wildfire and Incident Management Academy in Prescott. If you would like a presentation for your club or group, contact me and we’ll see if it can work.

Have a beautiful day … talk about fortunate … we are here!

Really unique and interesting location here. I just came across your post. Love them! Living down in the COLORADO SPRINGS, the Garden of the photographer is right in front of me.

    Analyzing City’s Legal Right to
    Ban OHVs on Public Roads

    By Tommy Acosta
Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa! Mea Maxima Culpa! I screwed up. Blew it. Totally made a fool of myself. Missed the boat. I am talking about my editorial on the OHV fight, No Legal Traction on OHVs. I assumed that it was ADOT that would make a decision on whether the city could legally ban off road vehicles from our public roads like S.R. 89A and S.R. 179. Man was I off. ADOT has nothing to do with allowing or disallowing the city to do so. ADOT’s response to me when I asked them to clarify their position, was curt and to the point. “ADOT designs, builds and maintains the state highway system,” I was told. “It is not our place to offer an opinion on how state law might apply in this matter.” It was a totally “duh” moment for me when I realized that that the decision or judgement on the OHV ordinance, would involve the state and not ADOT. Chagrinned I stand. The crux of the matter then is whether the city can effectively use a number of standing state laws that can be interpreted to determine whether the city can legally ban the vehicles or not.
