… Long Canyon near sunset to the NE. Not sure how I missed this shot before, but I like it lot and it is from a viewpoint that you just cannot get from the ground … the sky was magical and so was the light on the rocks. I took the shot February 1st of this year and I was at 7,575’MSL and took the shot at 5:40P; sunset was 5:56P. in the foreground on the left side there is the road that goes out Palatki and on the right foreground there is the Aries home development. Just above and to the left you can see the beginning of Enchantment Resort which is tucked into Boynton Canyon.

Moving up and to the right is the rest of Long Canyon and the rock faces at the end are actually relatively narrow and separate Long Canyon from Oak Creek Canyon, which is just behind those rocks. On the horizon from the left is Sitgreaves Mountain, Kendrick Peak, the San Francisco Peaks and Mt. Elden. You can see last light on the western facing sides of Kendrick and the San Francisco Peaks. In the clouds you can see the low angle of the sun rays as shadows from the clouds streak across the sky. To the right of the photo about a third of the way down is Thunder Mountain and even further right the Sedona Airport.

So this is it for the week, have a beautiful weekend and I’ll be back Monday morning. Keep breathing and make choices that keep you happy with yourself … and smile.

    Cheers

    Ted

    O Passer-by, O passer-by!
Have you good words of me
Upon your lips as I draw nigh
    To you each day?
    If so, I ask
    That you’d them say,
For soon I’m gone and cannot hear,
    So speak the kindly word
I beg, and smile while I’m yet near …

    War
    War
    By Tommy Acosta
War…What is it good for? Obviously, it is good for those who profit from destruction and the taking of human life. And what is the common denominator, the impetus for war throughout the centuries? It’s about the acquisition of land, by force, deceit or any other means possible. During the holidays I went to a party where this retired couple were recounting a land dispute they were having with their neighbor. It seems their neighbor was claiming an extra six feet on their property line and the animosity had grown so strong that they were now in court trying to settle whose six feet of land it was. Prior to the dispute they had been friendly but now they had become arch enemies, all for a tiny piece of land. Read more→
