… Michele was down here last week with Lennox and Bridger, and we were working on the upcoming event at the Mary Fisher Theater scheduled for February 7th at 4PM. It is going to be an incredible event … I will be presenting photos and tales of Michele’s birds and some of their wild brethren for about twenty minutes and then it will be Michele taking you through the wonders of everything American Kestrel. We will be joined by her friend and fellow Falconer, Devin Jaffe who is coming down from Colorado and bringing two of her American Kestrels too.
There will be three Kestrels and a Saker Falcon in the theater and you will be able to interact with them. The Kestrel is the smallest falcon in North America and also one of the most beautiful … check out the photo of Lennox, Michele’s newest male Kestrel above.
Below is a shot of Bridger, Michele’s newest addition … a male Harris’s Hawk, and he appears be ready to sink those talons in an unsuspecting prey … notice the size of the hallux talons (the rear ones) they are the largest and the ones that they drive into their prey for the kill. Bridger weighs about a pound and a half and nailed a five-pound jack rabbit last week … some fine dining!
Katie was totally intimidated by Bridger as he screamed at her … she has recovered and is plotting her revenge methinks.
Into an absolutely terrific new week … find reasons to have a wonderful day … heck, just being here makes it so! keep breathing, smile and be kind.
Cheers,
Ted
One morn I rose and looked upon the world.
“Have I been blind until this hour?” I said.
O’er every trembling leaf the sun had spread,
And was like golden tapestry unfurled;
And as the moments passed more light was hurled
Upon the drinking earth athirst for light;
And I beholding all this wondrous sight,
Cried out aloud, “O God, I love Thy world!”
And since that waking, often I drink deep
The joy of dawn, and peace abides with me;
And though I know that I again shall see
Dark fear with withered hand approach my sleep,
More sure am I when lonely night shall flee,
At dawn the sun will bring good cheer to me.
