… you never know who or what you are going to see … especially when you visit areas like Sunset Crater and all the tree and wood creatures left over from the millennia since the volcano erupted. This creature of the woods was out for a run and threw me a wave as it passed by … I made sure that the twig on the hand was removed before sending this photo out as it seemed a little rude not to … such is nature … and couldn’t have done it without help from One.

A kinda weird, but good day and as little accomplished as possible … I did very good on that chore.

A friend flying in to do the annual on Mariah over the next couple of days, so that will have my focus. Once a year every aircraft is required to have what they call an annual inspection in which you pretty much tear it apart and check everything and replace or fix anything that is out of tolerance. A very reassuring feeling to be flying after an inspection knowing everything is well.

Have a beautiful day and time to put a wrap on mine. Give thanks for the day and live it well lest there be no more … best to be the optimist, but the possibility is always there that will not be another day.

Cheers … smile and do keep breathing

For a few hours here in the still morning I wash myself clean of civilization, and purge myself of things and the accumulated rubbish of time.
I push back history, dismiss interpreters, and stand erect before the dawn, looking the universe in the face, and asking my own questions.
Tomorrow I shall return to the human wheels; but now I defy the world of customs and laws, of sophistry and serfdom; and I yield myself childlike
to the light and the air and the sweet scented dew.

    Analyzing City’s Legal Right to
    Ban OHVs on Public Roads

    By Tommy Acosta
Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa! Mea Maxima Culpa! I screwed up. Blew it. Totally made a fool of myself. Missed the boat. I am talking about my editorial on the OHV fight, No Legal Traction on OHVs. I assumed that it was ADOT that would make a decision on whether the city could legally ban off road vehicles from our public roads like S.R. 89A and S.R. 179. Man was I off. ADOT has nothing to do with allowing or disallowing the city to do so. ADOT’s response to me when I asked them to clarify their position, was curt and to the point. “ADOT designs, builds and maintains the state highway system,” I was told. “It is not our place to offer an opinion on how state law might apply in this matter.” It was a totally “duh” moment for me when I realized that that the decision or judgement on the OHV ordinance, would involve the state and not ADOT. Chagrinned I stand. The crux of the matter then is whether the city can effectively use a number of standing state laws that can be interpreted to determine whether the city can legally ban the vehicles or not.
