… it was a beautiful day on Lake Pleasant today and a distinct absence of humans on the lake … the birds came out to play and celebrated having the lake pretty much to themselves and put on a celebratory display of silliness like this shot of a great blue heron doing I know not what, but obviously enjoying himself. We drifted up quite close to him and he just posed for us … then it was like all heck broke loose for about 30 seconds. Glad we got to enjoy the big kerfuffle .

A greater number of species are showing up although the total numbers of birds is not great. Bald Eagles, Osprey, Herons, Grebes, Golden Eye ducks, Ravens, Gulls including the Short Bill gull, Blackbirds and many more … after we retrieved the boat and we were getting it ready for the trip home I spotted some Queen Butterflies in the weeds at the top of the ramp … time out and we got some nice shots of them like the one below.

Into the weekend for me and as always the plan is to be back Monday morning … some aerial shots next week … The peaks should pick up some snow and past snowy mountains will be shared.

Enjoy your days and give thanks for the gift of life … it really is pretty cool being here!

    Cheers,

    Ted

The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
