    … there are few things more pleasing than to be in the air when the air is absolutely crystalline and you can see forever … there is a kind of magical beauty in the twilight created by the USFS when the air is inundated with smoke from prescribed burns … healthy? No! Beautiful? in a strange kinda way.

    The photo above was taken from just S of Grand Falls looking towards the WSW. Roden Crater, the art project of James Turrell is in the foreground and above it just under its own special cloud are the San Francisco Peaks, to the left and just peeking up behind a range is Mt. Elden and to the right is O’Leary Peak and further right is Kendrick Peak. As you go N from Flagstaff the ground slopes downward … you are in the San Francisco Volcanic Field and the Painted Desert.

    Below is a photo I took from about the mid point in Sycamore Canyon looking towards the N. On the horizon from the left is Sitgreaves Mountain, Kendrick Peak and the San Francisco Peaks. There was a prescribed burn in progress on the plateau and the smoke settled and spread over everything as it flowed into the lower reaches of canyons and valleys … Kind of a mystical beauty … but not the healthiest air to be breathing for any living creature.

    Have a beautiful day … keep breathing … keep smiling!

    Ted

    Let me forgive much, forget more;
    Let me close my eyes and fall half asleep,
    That the pictures may grow softer and stiller,
    And the life, O thou God! again grow gentle.

    The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
    Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
