    … so, it was a cool, somewhat windy morning on the lake Friday, consequently very few boats on the lake and the birds and critters were out in force. We caught up with the Juvi Eagles again and this time one of them was ripping into a Striped Bass … kinda hard to tell as he has consumed a lot of it … White Bass? He was also continually annoyed by several Ravens that we looking for tidbits from the fish … in their wisdom they didn’t taunt him to the point where they became a meal!

    In the photograph above he is launching into flight from his perch and exhibiting perfect form as his wings and legs are fully extended and departure is a millisecond away … in the photograph below he is approximately 3/10ths of a second into flight and a picture of raw power as he is off to another perch to finish his meal … he landed about a hundred yards away, joined by three ravens and we left them to finish it off.

    Really fun to have the two fledglings from last year back as the first year survival rate among Bald Eagles is only about fifty per-cent. They obviously know what they are doing.

    Next weekend is Open Studios Spring Tour and it goes from April 25 through April 27th from 10AM each day to 5PM. I always like to encourage you to visit my friends who participate in the event and this year Kenyon Taylor is in Studio 12 at 1426 Vista Montana Rd in Sedona … she does beautiful acrylic and mixed media art. Paul Kanter (photography) and Sue Meyer (ceramic art) in Studio 21 in the Village at 230 Morgan Drive. All in all there are 55 artists participating in this years tour.

    Into a new week and what a great week it will be … new adventures and things to discover every day. Smile, be kind and have a beautiful day.

    Cheers,

    Ted

    Work as if thy task were made for thee;
    Be strong as if thou had courage,
    And charitable as if thou had been rewarded;
    Remain poor if riches are dishonorable,
    And carry poverty with the dignity of virtue.
    When others dine sumptuously, eat thy crust;
    Let love be thy guide and justice thy God—
    Not for thyself alone, but for all men.
    Pursuing these things thou wilt be misjudged
    And, in the gloaming of thy days, forgotten;
    Then, uncomplaining, lie thou down at even,
    Cheered by the love in thy heart,
    And by the full-grown soul of thy charity;
    Then hast thou won the heroic battle,
    Yet not stained with blood;
    But in the garden of love and sacrifice,
    Hast thou planted serenely growing flowers,
    That shall still blow when thou dost slumber
    In the shadow-land of dreamless sleep.
