Sedona News – The Sedona Women (TSW} will be presenting two women Veterans who will share their unique and special military experiences. Our two guest speakers are our current president, Specialist Crew Chief/Mechanic,Helen James and retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Air Force, Carolyn Fisher on Thursday, November 9th, at 10:00 am at the Sedona Public Library.
Both speakers have worked in numerous male dominated occupations and will be detailing their journey in this arena, sharing their backgrounds and experiences as they achieved their goals and objectives. Highlighting some of the more dramatic and unusual events in their careers should make for a fascinating presentation.
Helen James was born in the San Jose area which gave her many opportunities to flourish in the semiconductor industry. Helen has worked in many male dominated occupations, such as aviation mechanic {US Army), aircraft refueler, telecom, facilities management, construction project management, and overall “handy-woman”. She attributes much of her success. to being at the right place at the right time!
Carolyn Fisher was born in New Orleans and raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi. After serving in the Peace Coxp, she traveled, ran a travel agency and then joined the Air Force in 1974. During her career she was an Air Traffic Control officer, a management consultant, a planner and finally retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1994. Moving to Sedona, she became deeply involved in the Sedona Literacy Center and many other additional causes.
The Sedona Women (a 501c,3) have been sponsoring monthly program meetings, hosting social events and trips for members, as well as doing many hands-on projects to benefit the Sedona community for over 20 years. This program is open to the public on Thursday, November 9th at the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Road in West Sedona. A meet and greet will begin at 9:30 a.m„ followed by the program at 10am, and ending with a Q and A .
