Sedona, az — Sedona Great Decisions Group will discuss the United Nations, World Bank and IMF in a Changing World on April 20th from 10 am to noon at the Community Library Sedona, 3250 White Bear Road. This meeting is open to the public and free of charge.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank were created to bring economic stability to an unstable world. The United Nations was established to maintain international peace and security, promote friendly relations among nations, foster social progress and serve as a center for harmonizing global actions.

The current administration wants to expand US leadership in international institutions to bring them more in-line with America First. This meeting will address the administration’s changes and what the future holds. We will also discuss ramifications to the US and world order. We hear a lot about these institutions in the news, but why do they exist and are they possibly outdated for today’s world?

Meeting moderators are Antigoni Axenidou and Carla Williams. Antigoni has 30 years of experience in the UN’s legal office, and Carla has 30 years in oil and gas engineering and finance.

As the local chapter of the national Foreign Policy Association, Sedona Great Decisions Group has been meeting monthly since 1985 to consider a wide range of foreign affairs issues. Discussions are nonpartisan and educational, allowing a diversity of opinions to be shared honestly and constructively. The aim, in the words of FPA President Noel Lateef, is to help citizens “learn to discern truth from propaganda, participate meaningfully in public debate, and hold leaders accountable through informed engagement.”

All are welcome, but seating is limited. To reserve a place or get more information about membership, please contact Group Leader Charles Blum at chblum45@yahoo.com or call 301-717-4210.

Home Rule allows the city government, Staff with limitations, and Council to spend any money they have on any project they want without regard to voter input.
