Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Dance First” showing Sept. 6-12 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
“Dance First” — directed by Academy Award-winner James Marsh — stars Gabriel Byrne, Aidan Gillen, Fionn O’Shea and Sandrine Bonnaire.
Literary genius Samuel Beckett lived a life of many parts: Parisian bon vivant, WWII Resistance fighter, Nobel Prize-winning playwright, philandering husband, recluse. But despite all the adulation that came his, way he was a man acutely aware of his own failings.
“Dance First” is an imaginative, playful and often poignant account of the life of Beckett. The script employs imaginative strategies as befits an author who had such a radical influence on modern culture and unfolds in extended vignettes that delve deep into the key relationships in Beckett’s life.
Titled after Beckett’s famous ethos “Dance first, think later,” the film is a sweeping account of the life of this 20th-century icon.
“Dance First” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre Sept. 6-12. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Sept. 6, 7, 8 and 9 at 7:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 10, 11 and 12 at 4:00 p.m.
