Sedona News – On November 13th, World Kindness Day — also proclaimed as Sedona Kindness Day — SedonaKind invites you to the Sedona Film Festival Theatres to enjoy wonderful short films that reflect and resonate with their mission: encouraging acts of kindness, large and small, locally and around the world.

The Sensational Shorts include subjects that align with SedonaKind projects: the well-being of veterans, children and pets.

These award-winning short films represent some of the best films shown at the Sedona International Film Festival. They cover a diverse, fascinating and fun spectrum of subjects, including:

Space Race: In a fun animated short, two competing astronauts race to claim the moon for themselves.

Tikkun Olam: This live action short tells the compassionate story of an 8-year-old boy who befriends a homeless veteran…with an unexpected result.

The Ballad of Tita and the Machines: When AI workers attempt to replace an injured, aging farmworker, the owners soon learn that humans are indispensable.

The Forgotten Place: How do you find the perfect best friend? Our hero makes a valiant try.

The Pee-Pee Monster: The pressure is on for a rushed father dealing with a toddler who has to…

    Sedona Gift Shop

Fundamental Shapes: A gentle romantic comedy concerns the varied ways to love when an unemployed actor takes a gig as a nude model for an art class.

These Final Hours: What is the truth? It’s hard to know in this story about a young man trying to make his way in America.

Critique: With the “help” of an important food critic, a personal chef has creativity tested during the cooking of a 3-course meal.

Gum: Imagine a world where chewing gum does not exist, then try to explain what it is. It’s loads of fun to see someone try.

Andy, A Dog’s Tale: A wonderful animated story, commissioned by the wife of the creator of “Peanuts,” that shows the hero’s journey of a puppy becoming a Canine Companion, service dog.

You can see the Sensational Shorts on Wednesday, November 13th at 4:00 and 6:30 at the Mary D Fisher and Alice Gill Sheldon Theatres.  Tickets are $12 or $9 for Film Festival members. For more information and to purchase your tickets, call 928.282.1177 or visit www.SedonaFilmFestival.org. You can also stop by the Film Festival office at 2030 West Highway 89A in West Sedona.

    What Would I Change?
    By Amaya Gayle Gregory

What would I change if I could? You and I both know I can’t, but it’s a fun exercise anyway. I would have been less of a know-it-all on my spiritual journey. It seems to be a side-effect of the path. Spiritual folks develop an all-knowing buffer to protect against their inevitable surrender to the unknown, but understanding that now didn’t make it gentler on me or those I loved, let alone those that I deemed not capable of getting it 😉 Yeah … I’d have dropped the spiritual snob act. I’d have recognized that spiritual radicals are only different on the outside from radical right Christians, and that the surface doesn’t really matter as much as I thought. We are all doing our couldn’t be otherwise things, playing our perfect roles. I’d have learned to bow down humbly before my fellow man, regardless of whether I agreed with him or not. We’re all in this together and not one of us will get out alive. Read more→
