Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “A Good Person” showing April 21-27 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres.
“A Good Person” — written and directed by Zach Braff — stars Academy Award-nominee Florence Pugh and Academy Award-winner Morgan Freeman.
Sometimes we find hope where we least expect it.
In “A Good Person”, Allison (Florence Pugh) is a young woman with a bright future — a wonderful fiancé, a blossoming career, and supportive family and friends. But her world crumbles in the blink of an eye when she survives an unimaginable tragedy and emerges from recovery with an opioid addiction and unresolved grief.
In the following years, it is the unlikely friendship she forms with her would-be father-in-law (Morgan Freeman) that gives her a fighting chance to put herself back together and move forward with her life.
Braff crafts a film about complicated characters who work to overcome tragedy while confronting personal failings and reaching for redemption and forgiveness — and who try to laugh and love through it all.
“I wanted to take on grief and addiction, and a story about people standing back up after tragedy,” says Braff. “And I wanted to find a way to tackle it with some humor and heart.”
“A Good Person” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres April 21-27. Showtimes will be Friday and Sunday, April 21 and 23 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m.; Monday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 25, 26 and 27 at 4:00 p.m.
