Sedona, AZ – The 100 + Women Who Care Sedona-Verde Valley Chapter voted the Science Vortex of Verde Valley the Chosen Recipient at the spring Giving Circle on Monday, April 3rd at the Sedona Elks Club. Founder and Director, Laurie Altringer accepted on behalf of the organization. Their mission is to positively impact children’s critical-thinking abilities, creativity, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) literacy. The members wrote a $100 check directly to the nonprofit. When all checks are all collected, they will present the Science Vortex with approximately $15,500.
Rainbow Acres and Sedona Art Center were also finalists. Each nonprofit presented its mission and reasons they should be voted to receive the grant money. Then members voted for the nonprofit of their choice.
Since beginning in October 2020 and completing nine Giving Circles, they have donated over $120,00 to worthy nonprofits. The Chapter now has over 165 members from Sedona and throughout the Verde Valley area.
