    logo_campverdecommunitylibraryCamp Verde AZ (October 2, 2019) – One day only, Saturday, November 9 from opening at 9:00a to 4:00p Camp Verde Community Library will transform into a gaming venue to host the first ever Verde Valley Game Con. The Library and Camp Verde Youth Advisory Council is partnering with Game On from Prescott to bring this exciting event designed for all-ages, skill-levels and interests to the Verde Valley.

    Game Con aims to have something for everyone. From Twister and UNO in the Children’s Library to a variety of board games, card games, video games, role-playing games, and tournaments scattered throughout the rest of the building. Want to try a new board game or play an old favorite? Head upstairs to the Game Library to check-out one of many board games provided by Game On to play with friends. Want to take on your friends in a Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. tournament? We have you covered in the Video Game Room. Fancy a game of chess or dominoes? Grab you friends and start a competition. Have you ever wanted to play as an elf scout or a wizard casting arcane spells in Dungeons and Dragons? Roll a character and join a one-shot beginner campaign! Do you have a competitive or casual Magic: The Gathering deck, or want to learn how to play? Join in a tournament or just come and learn how to play for fun.

    Game Con will feature vendors like Game On and have food and beverages for purchase from The Agenda so come and make a day of it! Admission for the event is $5, or $2 with a donation of 2 canned food items. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Camp Verde Youth Advisory Council. Children under 10 years old get in free.

    Camp Verde Community Library is located just off of Montezuma Castle Highway at 130 Black Bridge Road, Camp Verde AZ.     The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
