    SAVCO Hosting Annual Charity Golfing Event

    Sedona News – SAVCO will be hosting its annual charity golfing event on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Oakcreek Country Club (OCC), 690 Bell Rock Blvd. Sedona, AZ 86351. This fun scramble event will include putting and chipping contests, straightest drive and closest to the pin contests as well as top team awards and a $10,000 prize for a hole in one!

    All proceeds of this event enable SAVCO to continue its patriotic missions of conducting the annual Memorial Day Ceremony, manning the 89 Flags on 89a & uptown, providing scholarships to Sedona High School graduates, aiding veterans via the Veterans Assistance Fund, running the Sedona Toys for Tots program and much more.

    Fees are $75 for OCC members and $150 for non-OCC members. A full breakfast menu and Bloody Marys will be available, starting at 7:00. The shotgun start is at 9:00.  Lunch will be provided along with a roving beverage cart. Numerous and intriguing silent auction items will be on hand.

      One Silent auction item is a night at my home theater for 10, movie of your choice, regular or 3D if available, beer, wine and upscale Hors d’Oeuvres.

      Don’t have to play to bid.


    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
