Sedona, AZ — This is the final Bear Howard for a while. I’m headed up north for the summer. I’ll do a little bit of fishing and thinking. I might do a story now and then, but now that Trump’s first hundred days are over and we know what the next 1,360 days will be like, it’s time to pause and contemplate. We know that Trump 2.0 will be a never-ending story that will challenge even the hardiest amongst us.
It’s time to take a mental vacation. And go play.
Prelude: This is a hopeful projected vision of the first hundred days of a new Democratic administration that took office on January 20, 2029 — an administration built on emboldened Democrats, independent-minded voters, and the ashes of a Republican Party too burned out to mount serious resistance. This is not a look back at the first hundred days of Trump’s second term, an era whose chaos and corruption defied even the harshest imagination. This is about what came next — the beginning – of something different.
The Story: By Inauguration Day 2029, America was no longer a wounded giant so much as a battered survivor, staggering out of a long, brutal storm. The Trump years — eight in total — had hollowed institutions, scorched political norms, alienated allies, and left the public so numbed by chaos that cynicism had become a survival mechanism.
But the new government didn’t come to mourn what had been lost. It came to rebuild — fast, unflinchingly, and without apologies to the forces that had nearly shattered the country. Armed with the largest Democratic majorities in a generation, buoyed by independents who had broken decisively with extremism, and facing a Republican opposition exhausted by its own excesses, the new leadership understood the moment: recalibrate, restore, and refuse to look back
Something unexpected had happened in 2026. While Trump basked in the illusion of unshakable dominance, the electorate, fatigued, economically rattled, and fed up with relentless chaos, flipped. Democrats retook the House and Senate in a midterm landslide that even optimists hadn’t dared predict. Trump, true to form, claimed fraud, cried “deep state revenge,” and demanded recounts.
But the numbers were overwhelming, and even courts stacked with Trump-appointed judges couldn’t justify overturning reality this time.
That Democratic majority changed the entire trajectory of the final two years.
With Congress finally back in their hands, Democrats built a dam against the flood of authoritarianism that had soaked every corner of the federal government. They couldn’t undo the past, but they could halt further damage. Oversight committees were reopened. Investigations resumed. Trump’s more deranged proposals — like the 2027 “Free States Firearms Act,” a bill that would have made AR-15s tax-deductible — were dead on arrival. Funding for public education, climate programs, and science research was quietly restored through budget reconciliation.
Critics accused them of gridlock; in truth, they were laying the first careful bricks on the road back to sanity.
So when the new president arrived in 2029, they weren’t stepping into a smoldering crater. Thanks to the Democratic sweep of 2026, they inherited a Congress ready, at least nominally, to partner in the work of repair. It meant executive orders could be reinforced with legislation. It meant the long-buried Democracy Restoration Act didn’t have to die in committee. It meant judicial reform — long a progressive fantasy — could finally be debated openly, without being dismissed as radical.
The president, recognizing the rare opportunity, wasted no time. Agencies corrupted or paralyzed under Trump — DOJ, EPA, ICE — weren’t just restaffed; they were reinvented. Leadership was selected not for political balance but for competence, credibility, and ethical resilience. What had once been derided as the “deep state” was rebranded the “resilient state” — a recognition that career public servants had done more to defend democracy than most elected officials.
Internationally, however, the landscape was harsher and far less forgiving.
Eight years of Trump’s “America First” belligerence had all but fractured NATO. European partners, doubting America’s commitment to collective defense, had invested heavily in independent security agreements, defense industries, and alternative global frameworks.
The EU had accelerated its plans for technological and economic self-sufficiency, no longer relying on American innovation, banking, or trade.
China had moved swiftly into the vacuum, not only tightening its grip over regional supply chains but building parallel systems of commerce and diplomacy — from Southeast Asia to Africa to Latin America — where American influence used to be taken for granted. Even secondary powers like India, Brazil, and the UAE had begun to chart their own courses, cutting deals that no longer needed Washington’s approval-or its dollars.
Globalization hadn’t collapsed — it had simply moved on without America at the center.
The new president understood that rebuilding credibility abroad would require more than slogans and summits. The administration’s first hundred days included a full-scale diplomatic offensive, aimed less at reclaiming dominance and more at reestablishing trust.
NATO talks were reopened, but cautiously. The U.S. rejoined the Paris Climate Accord, not as a leader barking orders, but as a partner with ground to make up. Trade agreements were reimagined around mutual interest rather than American exceptionalism. Even so, American influence had permanently shrunk—and the new administration had the humility, and the strategic patience, to accept it.
The Democratic majority also gave real teeth to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission — no longer just a public airing of grievances, but a real investigative body with subpoena power, immunity deals, and a national audience hungry for answers.
The hearings became must-watch television: former White House aides detailing coercion campaigns, federal contractors exposing sweetheart deals brokered through back-channel apps, and even a handful of MAGA influencers admitting, on record, that disinformation had been far more profitable than truth.
The commission angered the far right, as expected. But for most Americans, exhausted by conspiracy-driven governance, it was a long-overdue reckoning. People weren’t clamoring for vengeance. They were starving for honesty. They needed someone, finally, to say: “You weren’t crazy. It was that bad.”
With Congress fully aligned, the administration launched a sweeping modernization of the electoral system. Mail-in voting protections were codified at the federal level. Gerrymandered districts were redrawn by nonpartisan commissions. The Voting Rights Act wasn’t just restored — it was future-proofed to confront 21st-century threats like AI-driven disinformation and microtargeted voter suppression. States tried to challenge the reforms in court, but for once, democracy itself had a fighting chance.
By Day 100, something extraordinary had occurred: the new administration had used its political capital. Not timidly. Not performatively. But deliberately, surgically, and unapologetically.
The president made clear: this was not about returning to “normal.” Normal had been the breeding ground for collapse. The goal was recalibration — to rebuild American governance on sturdier ground, informed by hard lessons rather than nostalgic myths.
The threats, of course, hadn’t vanished. Rogue governors refused to comply with federal mandates. Disinformation still pulsed through encrypted channels. Extremism hadn’t disappeared — it had simply gone underground again, waiting for the next opportunity.
But for the first time in nearly a decade, the machinery of democracy wasn’t just creaking under the weight of manufactured outrage and cosplay fascism — it was moving. Not smoothly.
Not quietly. ––– But forward.
And after the decade America had just survived, that was more than enough to call it a beginning

This is a opinion piece and and Sedona .Biz needs to stay out of this lane. What is left out of this type of “opinion” is that the Democrats must get their act together and have a candidate and platform that the citizens could vote for. The main reason that we have the current president is that the Democratic party is in shambles and would rather sling mud and present dangerous woke and climate agendas than fix the things that reasonable people want of our government. Reasonable people want safe boarders, an immigration policy that works, affordable housing, inflation that is not out of control. The democratic party needs to pay attention.
Too bad these are not opinion but rather facts. Also too bad you feel the need to silence truth and fact with propaganda and lies.
The nightmare of the last 4 years of incompetence is over. Thankfully we still have a little left to rebuild on before the Biden puppeteers totally destroyed our economy and started more wars. Whatever Happened to the Free Trade Republicans?
Once upon a time, Republicans championed open markets, limited government, and fiscal restraint. Now, they appear focused almost exclusively on slashing social services for Americans while pouring ever more billions into the black hole of military spending—where even the Pentagon admits waste is rampant.
And for what? America has not won a conventional war since 1945. Korea was a stalemate. Vietnam was a disaster. Afghanistan became a 20-year money pit, ending in chaos. If our track record is this poor, perhaps the solution is less war, not more spending.
Demonizing China—our largest trading partner—makes even less sense. Americans like their phones, computers, appliances, and affordable goods. We depend on these products, and China’s economy depends on selling them to us. This mutual dependence should be a foundation for diplomacy, not a pretext for hostility.
Instead, we provoke a nation of 1.4 billion people with a growing economy, a formidable military, and a deep understanding of long-term strategy. Ask yourself:
How large is China’s military compared to ours?
How far is China from the California coast—and how long would it take for a naval conflict to spiral?
In an age of satellite surveillance and drone warfare, how relevant are 20th-century fleets and carrier groups?
We’re investing in yesterday’s weapons for tomorrow’s conflicts while burning bridges with the nations that keep our supply chains and economy alive.
This isn’t national security. It’s national suicide. And it’s time for a rebellion—not with muskets, but with common sense. A rebellion against fear-based policy. Against performative patriotism. And most of all, against turning our trading partners into enemies.

We have been clobbered with tariffs on our products, supporting all these countries with trillions in additional income. Where have you been? You call that free? We did not have any wars that were started from 2017 through 2020., Did you forget that??? Apparently you were not paying attention. President Trump hates war, and the death and destruction that it causes. Apparently you like war, it was the people that were manipulating Joe Biden that started two conflicts, Israel on October 5th, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I will also remind you that Obama was the first to sit by while Russia invaded Ukraine. If you do not like war Steve, suggest you start voting Republican.
Iran was broke at the end of the first Trump administration. Biden lifted sanctions and allowed Iran to sell oil, and released billions of dollars that were restricted into their coffers. All in an attempt to do a “deal” with a terrorist state. How stupid was that. So they started funding their proxies. Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis. We didn’t have an issue before the puppet Biden’s polices were implemented. Biden’s “green” handlers also caused the price of oil to skyrocket. Between his disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal which signaled weakness to Putin that Biden was a wuss, and the increase in oil prices which gave Russia the capital to fund a war, and Biden’s OK statement that Russia could have a “minor incursion” is there any wonder why we have 100s of thousands dead between the Russian soldiers and the Ukrainian people? This is your guy Steve. Now President Trump has to clean up the mess.
We are not provoking a nation of 1.4 Billion people, China. Where do you come up with that? China is going all over the world buying up land, opening up sea ports and supporting third world countries to gain their natural resources. Your a big China fan or something? China has put over 1 million Uyghurs in the Xinjiang region, in “reeducation” camps and into slave labor. You good with that? I guess if you are into cheap stuff than all is OK?
In the Congo, the Chinese own the lithium mines, where kids mine lithium by hand. Lots of photos on the internet for your entertainment. But hey, got the have those Chinese lithium ion batteries.
China has a large military, and more ships than we do, but that does not mean that they are superior. They are not, but if we don’t get our act together, they could be a problem as their goal is not to beat us, it is to become the dominant country on the planet. How is your Mandarin Steve? Right now Iran builds more ships than the US. We are too busy running up trillions in debt by pissing way trillions on stupid stuff, and fraud and waste. Mostly politicians buying votes with tax dollars and not accounting for the money spent.
China is 1.4 billion people, India is 1.5 billion people., And is a republic, like us, not a dictatorship. AND India can feed it’s people, China cannot without outside food coming in. Too much high desert and mountains. As I stated earlier, their economy is in big trouble, and their factories are laying people off. They cannot supplement the loss of the US Market, the largest in the WORLD to other countries becasue they already sell their stuff to other countries. President Trump knows exactly what he is doing.
Our stock market is where it was in November 2024, and not becasue trillions of wasted dollars are being dumped into the market by the fed – as was the case the last 4 years. The job reports are through the roof, government jobs are going down, thank goodness. In fact damn near every Biden era job report had a MINIMUM of 25% government jobs. Which produce nothing. That’s a data point that is now history.
Our supply chains are not only going to do fine, with over 100 nations running to our shores to do trade deals, but a record number of companies investing in the UNITED STATES to build their stuff HERE. Good American jobs and good profits for those companies. The chip plant alone in Phoenix covers 1000 acres, and another to be built in Texas. It is coming on line this year. Just start searching the internet for US and foreign companies that have made commitments and investments in the US. That total is 5 to 6 $trillion and growing.
And that is national security. The suicide you speak of took place form 2021 through 2024 when our debt soared, 10 to 15 million illegals were let in, cities ruined, crime up, rapes, murders and 250,000 dead Americans from Fentanyl thanks to your buddies in China and the cartels.
The rebellion happened on November 6th, when the MAJORITY of the voters and a big majority of the electoral college threw out the clown show and the cackling word salad, and voted in common sense and good American values. Voters wanted to restore our place on the planet that had systematically been dismantled by the puppeteers than ran the White House and the last administration.
The Democrats now support the cartels, the illegals, MS 13, and the billions it costs to support people who broke the laws of this country. You demand “hearings” for every illegal, but there were no immigration courts that let them in. Biden, Obama, Bush all deported millions – and that was OK? No “hearings” then. Little hypocrisy Steve???
You have no argument, you have a party that has an approval of under 25%, and the Democrats in Congress are down to about 17%. Like I said, you are close to going the way of the party of the Wigs.
