Sedona News – The city and their contractor, Cactus Asphalt, will begin a Pavement Rehabilitation Project for designated streets the week of Nov. 25, 2024 to help extend pavement life and improve road quality for Sedona motorists.
The project consists of crack seal operations along various roadways throughout the city, including:
- The Kachina neighborhood
- Part of the Shadow Estates Homeowners Association
- Bennet Way
- The beginning of Cultural Park Place and Arts Village Drive
- Parts of the Andante neighborhood above and below Thunder Mountain Road
- Airport Road
- Mountain Shadows Drive
- San Miguel Drive, Siesta Way and Caballo Drive
- Elysian Drive, Skyline Drive, Woodland Drive and Rolling Drive areas
- Apache Trail, Navajo Trail and Orchard Lane areas
- Oak Creek Knolls subdivision
See map below for exact streets. Crack sealing is a technique that involves filling roadway cracks with a sealant to prevent water and debris from entering and causing more deterioration.
Work may occur Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. No road closures are anticipated for crack sealing, however, please be aware of moving flagging operations during this work. To avoid conflicts with construction equipment and expedite completion of the project, the city asks that you avoid on-street parking along the affected roadways while construction is underway. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained when possible, however, temporary restrictions may occur when crack sealing operations are taking place. This is a fast-moving operation, and each specific area will be completed within one or two days.
The entire crack-sealing project is scheduled for completion in mid-December 2024. Crack seal operations are the first step in repairing these roadways. The city will return in spring 2025 to apply a new top layer to the existing pavement of these streets, with information forthcoming at that time.
