“We are thrilled to provide addiction medicine services to the Verde Valley region with Dr. Miranda Anderson’s transition to this role. This is a much-needed treatment option to combat the community health crisis related to substance use,” said NAH Director of Behavioral Health Systems Catherine Surovy. “Recovery treatment has been a top priority of NAH as a way to continue our commitment of improving health and healing people, and we are confident that adding this program will help many people in their time of need.”

With over four years of medical experience, Dr. Anderson has already been working at Verde Valley Medical Center as an internist. She has earned her board certification in addiction medicine and is now specializing in both internal medicine and addiction medicine. She believes the best way to treat patients is through open lines of communication so they feel comfortable having honest and non-judgmental dialogue to understand the best possible treatment outcomes.

Dr. Anderson earned her medical degree from Midwestern University in Glendale, Ariz. and her Master of Science in Medical Science from Boston University. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood and a fellowship in addiction medicine at the University of Arizona in Phoenix. She is board-certified in internal medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

The Recovery Clinic helps the community face the nationwide opioid addiction health crisis and treats other addictions that may affect members of the community. Following NAH’s commitment to providing comprehensive care to the community, the Recovery Clinic is embedded in NAH’s Cottonwood primary care clinic to help patients access addiction treatment close to home. Care coordination services assist Recovery Clinic patients when additional services are needed and connects patients with other community organizations to get the support they need.

    The Politics of Pain

Pain, in all its shapes and shadows, is the one certainty life gives us all. No one escapes it.
