logo_MATForceVerde Valley AZ (February 19, 2013) – The February 28th MATFORCE Lunch ‘n Learn will address marijuana use among our teens. The recently completed Arizona Youth Survey shows that teen use of marijuana is on the rise in Yavapai County. The survey revealed that those teens who reported using marijuana in the last 30-days rose 18% among 10th grade students and 35% among 12th grade students.

The Lunch ‘n Learn will be presented by Sheila Polk, Yavapai County Attorney, who is also the Founder and Co-Chair of MATFORCE and Merilee Fowler, the organization’s Executive Director. Presenters will address these questions: What is marijuana? Is it safe to use? What has been the impact of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act and what is its future?

The Lunch ‘n Learn will be held on Thursday, February 28, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Board of Supervisors Room, Yavapai County Administration Building, 1015 S. Fair St., Prescott and teleconferenced to the Yavapai County Cottonwood Annex, 10 South 6th St., Cottonwood. It is free and open to the public. Brown-bag lunches are welcome.

Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
