Yavapai County News – On April 18, 2025, a Yavapai County jury found 38-year-old Sheena Holmes, of Prescott, Arizona guilty of Theft Over $25,000 and Theft over $100,000. The charges pertained to thefts from a local business and a local charity. Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane thanked the jurors for the service, and commended Deputy Yavapai County Attorney Glen Asay for an excellent job in presenting Holmes’ complex crimes to the jury, and also commended the Prescott Police Department for a thorough investigation that was instrumental in discovering the full extent of Holmes’ crimes.

County Attorney Dennis McGrane stated, “The magnitude of Ms. Holmes thefts is staggering. The fact that she stole from a local business that trusted her and that many members of our community rely on for construction materials, and then from a charity that provides services to the homeless and desperately poor is reprehensible. Crimes like these have no place in this county, and my Office will vigorously prosecute anyone who chooses to steal. I hope the sentence that Ms. Holmes will be receiving in this case will deter others from stealing what is not theirs.”

The Prescott Police Department investigation revealed that Ms. Holmes used her position as an accounting clerk to steal over $30,000 from a local construction supplies business in Prescott in late 2021 and early 2022. Ms. Holmes quit her job after four months and a newly hired accountant at the business discovered the thefts. By then, Ms. Holmes had been hired as an accountant at a charity in Prescott that serves the homeless community. Over the course of a year, Ms. Holmes stole over $111,000 from the charity’s thrift store, low-income housing income, and shelter fees. The theft was uncovered when Prescott Police Department detectives contacted the charity while they were investigating the theft from the construction supplies business.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 16, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. before the Honorable Krista Carman of the Yavapai County Superior Court. Holmes is facing a minimum of three years and a maximum of 10 years in the Arizona State Prison.
