    City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (June 17, 2013) – Be a part of the first ever 5K Summer Series hosted by Sedona Parks and Recreation and the Sedona Running Company. There are two dates left to participate, Thursday, June 27 and July 25, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

    These quick-paced runs through the park are sure to be popular amongst those of you in the running community. Sedona is a beautiful location to be outdoors, and this series will take you up and down dirt and paved trails through scenic Posse Grounds Park.

    You may register ahead of time at Sedona Running Company or arrive early the day of the race. On-site registration and the races themselves will begin and end at the Sedona Community Pool, located behind West Sedona School at 570 Posse Ground Road. Run fast, run hard, and then enjoy a cool dip in the pool to celebrate your finish!

    All ages are welcome, but children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Each race is $10 per person, but challenge yourselves to both races and watch your time improve.

    City Council Weighs ATV Ban Ordinance Proposal

    The Sedona City Council at its May 23, 2023 meeting took no action on a proposed ordinance that would ban all off-road vehicles from being driven on state-owned public roads or streets owned by the city. The ordinance, spearheaded by Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow on the premise that such vehicles pose a risk to the health, safety and welfare of the community, would impose heavy fines to anyone driving the ATVs or OHVs on city streets, including S.R. 179 and S.R. 89A. ATV rental companies have admitted that such vehicles are not intended or designed to be driven on paved roads, yet, in Arizona, they are allowed to do so under Arizona Revised Statute 28-1174 (4B). Opponents against the ordinance argued at the meeting that if adopted the ban would cripple the ATV rental industry in Sedona and cause much hardship to the owners and employees, as it would effectively, as written, destroy their livelihood.
