    Train outside my window

    photo_karenwalkerCarry me,

    Over frozen bridges,

    Past snowcapped peaks,

Back to my home in the saguaros

Where my husband waits for me

    Rain outside my window

    Carry me

    Down endless rivers,

    Across unrelenting plains

To my home by the sea

    Where my children wait me

    Wind outside my window

    Carry me

    Above oak forests

    Sedona Gift Shop

    And bright city lights

To my home on the farm

Where Mother and Dad wait for me

    Sun outside my window

    Lower a ladder

    And I will climb

    above the clouds

    Past the stars

To my home in the great beyond

    Nurse rushing past my door

    Help me

    Get away from here!

    I don’t need a hug

And I don’t want that pill!

    I want to go home.

The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
