    Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Monies a Critical link to ongoing Traffic Safety efforts in Yavapai County

    logo_ycsoPrescott AZ (December 20, 2019) – Yavapai County Sheriff Mascher wishes to thank the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for providing grant funds awarded over the October 2019 to September 2020 time period. These funds have a direct impact in keeping Yavapai County roads safer for everyone. 

    Although numerous special patrols have been scheduled thanks to this funding from GOHS, the Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone that DUI enforcement is a year-around focus. YCSO joins all local law enforcement agencies in encouraging Yavapai County motorists to drink responsibly utilizing a designated driver when appropriate, drive smart, and drive sober at all times.

    A breakdown of the funding received by the Sheriff’s Office from GOHS is as follows:  

    Own In Sedona

    logo_governorsofficehighwaysafety3Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety –    $1,000.00

    Purpose:  To purchase bicycle helmets and educational materials to support Deputy Do Right’s bicycle safety program. These presentations include classroom and community visits along with bike safety rodeos. 

    Sedona Gift Shop

    DUI Enforcement and Equipment – $32,145.00

    Purpose: $30,000.00 for Overtime and Employer Related Expenses to work special details focused on DUI Enforcement.

    $2,145.00 to purchase new Portable Breath Testing Devices.
