It was supposed to be an ambush but instead she ambushed them.
After the final bell, Bret looked like he got hit in the side of the head by a Mike Tyson left hook, stunned into another dimension where he had never been before.
Kamala came in like Ali, dancing, prancing, and floating like a bee as she turned every opportunity into a chance to demean Trump. No matter how hard Bret tried, he could not block the onslaught. She stood right up to him and went nose-to-nose. The tougher Bret got, the more confident and elusive she became, slipping every punch Bret tried to throw.
He could not pierce her armor.
What was most telling was the look on Bret’s face afterwards. His colleagues on FOX tried to ease the pain and humiliation by patting Bret on the head and telling him he was a good boy. But he didn’t take the bait. He visibly winced with each compliment.
She had balls of steel to step into the FOX den and go toe-to-toe with their best man. Try as he might, short of launching into a shouting match or standing up and punching her in the face, Bret was cornered.
It wasn’t about who she is, but more about what Trump is not. She took every opportunity to besmirch Trump and point out his flaws and inconsistencies.
It was all damage control for FOX after the interview that somehow turned into a debate. She had it under control. She slipped the hard questions, danced around the talking points, schooled Bret, filibustered when needed, and outlasted him when they talked over each other. Basically, he was cowed. She wasn’t an easy opponent. She stood her ground, shrugged off his punches, and went to work using Bret to dismantle Trump.
All the FOX talking heads afterward were grasping for straws, anything they could hurt her with, but to no avail.
Again, Bret should have stuck to interviewing her rather than debating her. He lost his cool. He was supposed to be the interviewer but instead he became her opponent.
Every prepared trick question FOX had manufactured, she answered with confidence, not bothering to respond the way Bret thought she would. She just kept pummeling Trump and blaming him for everything wrong with the world.
They can try to spin it, but all the FOX people knew in their hearts that Bret got “whupped” by Kamala.
People tuned in to watch her get creamed, but instead, Bret got trounced.
It wasn’t about her answering questions or getting to know her better. It was about Kamala projecting a tough image and standing up to a seasoned professional who thought he would kick her butt but got his own kicked instead.
It was “rope-a-dope” all over again. Now we can see why she waited almost to the end of her campaign to allow herself to be interviewed. She let them all punch themselves out and went in for the kill when they ran out of steam.
