Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Van Gogh: Brush with Genius” showing June 29-July 4 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon and Mary D. Fisher Theatres.

“Van Gogh: Brush with Genius” is a big screen film about the life and paintings of Vincent Van Gogh. Filmed entirely in 15/70mm in France and the Netherlands, “Van Gogh” captures the breathtaking landscapes and extraordinary colors of the painter’s most famous works, seen for the first time with the stunning visual effects of the giant screen film medium.

Created by Peter Knapp and Francois Bertrand with the cooperation of the Van Gogh Museum, the Musee d’Orsay and the Kröller-Müller Museum, “Van Gogh” traces the artist’s remarkable journey from the time of his first canvasses at the age of 27 to the masterpieces he produced before his tragic death at age 37.

Told through the eyes of Van Gogh and based on more than 900 personal letters, the film transforms the work of the world’s most popular artist into a completely new entertainment experience. In a surprisingly short 9-year period of the artist’s career, he painted more than 900 paintings.

“Van Gogh” follows in the artist’s footsteps, traveling from the Netherlands to Auvers-sur-Oise and passing through Arles, Saint Rémy and Paris. From the dazzling yellow of the artist’s famous cornfields to the deep blue of his starry night sky, audiences will rediscover the source of some of the most important works in art history.

“Van Gogh: Brush with Genius” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon and Mary D. Fisher Theatres June 29-July 4. Showtimes will be Saturday, June 29 at 3:30 p.m.; Sunday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m.; Monday and Wednesday, July 1 and 3 at 7:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 2, 3 and 4 at 4:00 p.m.

Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona. For more information, visit: www.SedonaFilmFestival.org.
