FAMoS (Fine Art Museum of Sedona) is proud to announce the opening of Vibrance, a retrospective exhibition celebrating the life and extraordinary career of the late Jan Sitts. This landmark showcase invites the public to experience Sitt’s mastery of tactile, layered compositions that have captivated collectors around the globe. This exhibit runs through the month of May and is the first exhibit at our new location.
A Feast for the Senses
Vibrance serves as a testament to Sitt’s unique ability to transform the canvas into a multi-dimensional experience. Known for her sophisticated use of texture, color, and raw emotion, her work transcends traditional painting. Each piece encourages a “close, contemplative engagement,” rewarding the viewer who lingers long enough to explore the intricate ridges, valleys, and tonal shifts of her signature style.
A Global Influence with Local Ro
Jan Sitt was more than an artist; she was a world-class educator. Formally trained and deeply respected, she traveled the world teaching her techniques to students across continents. Her work is held in prestigious international collections, yet her heart remained firmly planted in the red rocks of Sedona
Jan didn’t just paint; she built emotional landscapes. This exhibit is titled Vibrance because it reflects not only the bold energy of her palette but the incredible spirit she brought to the Sedona arts community.
Community and Legacy
Beyond the studio, Sitt was a pillar of the Sedona art scene. A passionate advocate for local creators, she dedicated her time and resources to numerous art organizations, helping to shape Sedona into the cultural destination it is today. Vibrance honors that commitment, bringing her influence full circle back to the community she loved.
