Sedona, AZ — Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead—Mexico’s beloved celebration honoring departed loved ones—returns to Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village for its eleventh annual celebration on Saturday, November 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This colorful, family-friendly event has become one of Sedona’s most anticipated fall traditions. Visitors can experience live music, dance, art, food, and moving tributes of remembrance woven through Tlaquepaque’s enchanting courtyards and walkways. Admission is free, and everyone is invited to join in this joyful commemoration.
A Celebration of Life and Tradition
Rooted in centuries-old Mexican customs, Día de los Muertos blends pre-Hispanic and Catholic traditions. Families honor their departed loved ones by creating personal ofrendas—offerings of food, flowers, candles, sugar skulls, and photographs.
In that same spirit, Tlaquepaque will be transformed with installations including glowing candles, hand-crafted papier-mâché Catrinas, and stunning altars throughout the village. Guests are invited to bring photos or mementos to place on the community altar in Patio del Norte, created each year to welcome personal tributes.
The Marigold Mural Project
The week leading up to the event features the beloved Marigold Mural Project, a community art experience inviting guests of all ages to commemorate loved ones through words, names, and painted symbols on a 26-foot mural.
“It’s incredibly touching to see people—children and adults alike—write the names of those dear to them,” says Wendy Lippman, Tlaquepaque General Manager and Partner. “It’s a moving tribute and a creative way to remember those we’ve lost.”
Artist Lovejoy (lovejoycreations.com) returns to lead the project, beginning the mural with vibrant Day of the Dead imagery and assisting visitors as they contribute their own expressions. The mural will be open for painting Thursday, October 30, through Saturday, November 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Calle Independencia.
Murals from previous years will also be displayed throughout Tlaquepaque North and South.

Parking & Shuttle
To ease congestion, guests are encouraged to park offsite at 401 Jordan Road or the Uptown Municipal Lot at 260 Schnebly Road. A free continuous shuttle will operate from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
