Cottonwood AZ – The City of Cottonwood adopted a new short-term/vacation rental registration and notification process under Ordinance # 731 which was approved by the Cottonwood City Council on March 7, 2023.

This ordinance can be found on the City’s website and explains the details of the registration and any fines and fees associated with the ordinance.

This letter is to provide the new application to residential property owners and to serve as notification that any residential property used as a short team rental property (and located within Cottonwood City Limits) shall be registered.

A short-term rental is defined as any residential rental property that is rented for a timeframe of 30 days or less. The registration fee for this type of use is fifty dollars ($50.00) annually.

This initial registration for calendar year 2023 will be prorated to twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for the remainder of the current year.

Annual renewal notices will be sent out each November for the following year’s registration.

General requirements and information to be provided by the owner of the short-term rental are as follows; homeowners shall post emergency 24-hour contact information in the home; homeowners will provide the City with 24 home emergency contact information, and homeowners must provide notification to neighbors that the home is being used as a short-term rental.

Failure to file this information, register, or notify your neighbors may result in a fine.

Please review the ordinance at http://cottonwoodaz.gov/495/Business-Rcgistration and if you are currently using this residence as a short-term rental (under 30 days) fill out the enclosed short-term rental registration form and submit the form and payment to 821 N Main Street by June 30, 2023.
