Sedona News – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the city of Sedona for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2021.

The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate others, including residents, to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.

“I’d like to thank every member of the Financial Services Department for their participation and support in ensuring financial information is accurate and reporting meets the highest standards. It is a wonderful recognition to receive this award again,” said Cherie R. White, director of financial services.

This is the twenty-third year the city of Sedona’s Financial Services Department has received this award. The Fiscal Year 2021 comprehensive financial report can be viewed on the city’s website here.

    Hey Papi
    Happy Father’s Day Papi!

How’s it going up there in heaven? It’s Father’s Day here on Earth, and I’m thinking of you—missing you—now that I’m one year older than you were when you passed away. I just want to thank you for everything you taught me. Thank you for taking such good care of me. Thank you for helping me walk when I couldn’t walk. Thank you for making me strong against all adversity. Thank you for teaching me how to look behind the scenes and see what’s not being shown.
