Sedona News – On Monday, October 7, the city of Sedona and their contractor, Mulcaire & Son Contracting, LLC, will begin working on Phase Two of the shared-use pathway along Dry Creek Road, which in this phase will run from the Two Fence Trail to just north of Gringo Road.

20241004 cityThis new section of shared use path will connect to Phase One of the project, which runs between Two Fence Trail and the entrance to the Girdner Trail. A separate project is already underway to realign a small portion of Dry Creek Road to allow for this new shared-use pathway. The realignment of the roadway is set to be complete in the coming month.

The new pathway is part of the city’s Sedona Trails and Pathways System (ST&PS) and will be a naturalized, dirt path made of stabilized decomposed granite, with paver driveway crossings where necessary. No easements are needed from adjacent property owners, as all improvements will be constructed within city right-of-way. Please note, some mailboxes will need to be relocated. The city will coordinate with affected property owners and the post office to relocate mailboxes to an acceptable location. Additionally, the city will coordinate with property owners who will have new paver driveway entrances on an individual basis.

Work may occur Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with occasional work on Friday. Although no major road closures or traffic disruptions are anticipated along Dry Creek Road, please be aware of construction equipment along the shoulder, lane restrictions, reduced speeds, loud noise and flagging operations throughout the work zone. This project will allow safer pedestrian access along Dry Creek Road and will continue to make Sedona a more walkable and bikeable community. The project is scheduled to be complete in early 2025.

The third phase of the shared use path (Gringo Road to White Bear Road) is currently in design, and the city hopes to award a construction contract for that project in mid-2025.
