Sedona News – The city of Sedona currently seeks a Tourism Manager to manage the city’s first-ever in-house Tourism Program.

This person will be the spokesperson and expert on city tourism efforts, and will develop, implement and manage a program that balances Sedona’s thriving tourism economy with resident quality of life.

Over the past seven months, the city has been hard at work setting the foundation blocks for the Tourism Program including creating the website, Scenic Sedona; creating a Tourism Advisory Board made up of a mix of residents and business owners; setting up Simpleview; launching a Winter destination marketing campaign; hiring consultants for a Tourism Strategic Plan, a branding effort, a marketing plan and associated marketing campaign; and much more. Future tourism efforts will include not only destination marketing but a focus on responsible tourism management and environmental stewardship.

“Creating the city’s new Tourism Program has been an exciting and rewarding undertaking for our existing team, and we look forward to welcoming a new Tourism Manager to help us further elevate these efforts,” said City Manager Karen Osburn.

The application and job description may be found at www.sedonaaz.gov/jobs. Applications are being accepted until the position is filled with the goal of hiring the Tourism Manager as soon as possible. For more information, contact Human Resources Manager Russ Martin at rmartin@sedonaaz.gov or (928) 203-5189.

I was talking to the Sedona.biz publisher/editor the other day, Tommy Acosta, and learned that our common friend Fernando Rivera of North Carolina passed away. It was reported that life and time caught him and then overcame him, and his heart quietly and suddenly failed.
