    logo_clarkdalehistoricalsocietyClarkdale AZ (September 9, 2019) – The Clarkdale Historical Society and Museum, in partnership with OLLI Sedona/Verde Valley, invites adult lifelong learners to meet and greet at an Old Fashioned Back to School Social on Friday, September 20, 3:00-5:00pm in the historic Clark Memorial Clubhouse Mens Lounge located at 19 N. Ninth Street in downtown Clarkdale. Mingle in an environment of like adults who love to learn learn, grow and connect with others in an atmosphere of volunteerism and leadership.

    20190909_clarkdaleCindy Emmett, Museum Operations Director at CHSM will present the “History of the Upper Verde Valley Schools”.

    Light refreshments include a Wild Tonic kombucha tasting and birthday cake prepared by the Sedona Culinary Institute in celebration of OLLI’s 16th birthday. The afternoon will end with a drawing for door prizes provided by the historical society.

    There is no charge to attend, however both CHSM and OLLI appreciate contributions in support of adult education.

    What is a life anyway? A single “life?” Is it nothing more than a collection of emotions and thoughts, reverberating pain and pleasure, hopes, dreams and fear? Are we merely meat; flesh and blood creations encapsulating what we believe is a soul? Or is a single life the microcosm and macrocosm of human life on earth, each one of us a unique representation of who we believe we are and the whole of humanity at once? We are born. We grow old. We die. Everything we experience is but a dream between those two points. Or are we manifestations of a Divine Creator, every one of us complete in the image that we were made? So, we are told.
