Cottonwood AZ (September 9, 2017) – On September 8th at 4:50 am the Verde Valley Fire District (VVFD) responded to a residential fire on the 2600 block of Pipe Creek Dr.. Upon arrival crews found a small single story home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the structure. Crews immediately went into offensive attack. It took approximately 20 minute to get the fire under control.

Information and Perspective by Warren Woodward (September 9, 2017)Last week the administrative law judge at the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) filed her Recommended Opinion and Order (ROO) regarding the “smart” meter issues in the APS rate case. The ROO is her recommendation as to what she thinks the commissioners should do.Yesterday was the deadline to file “Exceptions” to the ROO. “Exceptions” are what an intervenor does not agree with. Her ROO gave APS everything it wanted regarding “smart” meters, so I filed an Exception to the whole thing yesterday.

By Ted Grussing… yesterday’s image was of the eagle soaring overhead and tonight is the view he would have if soaring the gap between Long Canyon and Oak Creek Canyon. I took this shot this morning and with all the smoke in the air it is about the only type of shot I could get that wasn’t heavily hazed out. I was about 7500’ and the left side of the image is the north side of Wilson Mountain where it breaks off to form the gap before the rim of the Colorado Plateau. A very cool and wild area ……

Sedona AZ (September 8, 2017) – Yavapai College Adult Education Instructor Dan Halliday recently announced that GED preparation classes would be returning to the YC Sedona Center after a long absence.Recently completed remodeling at the Sedona Center, 4215 Arts Village Drive, is the catalyst for the return of GED classes there, Halliday said. “We feel that there is a need for them. We haven’t had a class there in a while.”
