Stage I fire restrictions remain in effect Flagstaff AZ (May 19, 2014) – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for much of northern Arizona including the Kaibab and Coconino National Forests. Visitors to the Kaibab and Coconino National Forests are advised to refrain from having a campfire when Red Flag Warning conditions exist. This advisory covers all campfires across the forests, including in developed campgrounds.

Verde Valley AZ (May 19, 2014) – The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and its Arizona Occupant Protection Enforcement Program, will conduct targeted patrols focusing on seat belt violations beginning Monday, May 19, through Sunday, June 1, 2014. Cornville AZ (May 18, 2014) – PRELIMINARY INFORMATION – Just before 12:30 PM on May 17, 2014, YCSO deputies were dispatched to a traffic accident involving a vehicle and 3 bicyclists. One of the bike riders, 48-year-old Ethelyn Hartline of Gilbert, Arizona, was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center in critical condition and died just before 6PM. The incident occurred on Cornville Road west of Beaverhead Flats Road. The other bike riders involved are identified 52-year-old David Waechter and his 16-year-old daughter, also from Gilbert, who were riding together on a tandem bicycle.

Bicyclists will be traveling along shoulders of state routes 89A and 179 Verde Valley AZ (May 15, 2014) – The Arizona Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to be alert for bicyclists traveling along the shoulders of state highways throughout the Verde Valley this weekend due to a special event. More than 1,000 bicyclists are expected to participate in a charity bike race on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
