    Enhancements Include Increased Data on Confirmed Cases and Commercial Testing

    Arizona Department of Health ServicesPhoenix AZ (March 29, 2020) – The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) today launched a new dashboard with increased data about the COVID-19 outbreak. This enhanced dashboard will include increased data, and provide the ability to better track how the outbreak is evolving in Arizona.

    There are now two sections of the dashboard. The first section contains data about cases and the second section includes additional data about testing. On Monday, March 23, 2020, Governor Ducey issued an executive order requiring commercial labs to report all COVID-19 results. This new reporting requirement provides situational awareness on all testing performed in Arizona. ADHS will continue to update this data every morning at 9 a.m.

    The new data in the first section tracks confirmed cases and includes:

    • The total number of cases by week. This data is based on when the specimen was collected from the patient.
    • A breakdown of positive COVID-19 cases by age group
    • The percentage of positive COVID-19 cases by gender

    The second section of the dashboard provides testing figures and includes:

    • The total number of COVID-19 tests conducted at the Arizona Public Health Lab (ASPHL) and commercial labs
    • A map of the number of COVID-19 tests conducted at the ASPHL and commercial labs by county
    • The number of COVID-19 tests conducted by week
    • A breakdown of COVID-19 tests conducted by age group
    • The percentage of tests where COVID-19 was detected and non detected

    With widespread community transmission of COVID-19, and increased testing, ADHS expects to see more cases of COVID-19 in Arizona. COVID-19 is highly contagious and can be fatal. It is imperative that everyone takes precautions to protect themselves and their friends and family from this disease.

    The best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands;
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick; stay home when you are sick;
    • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then immediately throw the tissue in the trash; and
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

    One Bullet Away

    There’s a storm cloud coiling over America, and most don’t see it yet. But it’s there. Dark. Imminent. Unavoidable. Call it fate, call it consequence—but don’t call it fiction. The divide is real. And it’s calcifying by the hour.
