Sedona News – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising drivers and area residents and businesses to plan for continued lane restrictions on State Route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon.
The restrictions are needed for drainage-and-sediment repair work in Oak Creek Canyon resulting from a rockfall event in March 2023.
Continued single lane restrictions
- SR 89A is narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between the switchbacks and Oak Creek Vista (mileposts 387-390). The around-the-clock restrictions will be in place through the fall.
- A temporary traffic signal will be in place to direct traffic through the work zone.
- Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes to get through the work zone.
- A 10-foot vehicle-width restriction will be in place.
- The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.
There may be additional intermittent full closures of SR 89A when construction activities require it. ADOT will provide advance notice of the full closures.
ADOT and its contractor are working closely with emergency responders to coordinate and maintain access of emergency vehicles and personnel while the restrictions are in place.
