… and another look back at a blue bird shoot from a year or so ago and all the beautiful mix of blues and golds, live and not … five Western Bluebirds, one Mountain Bluebird and a Robin wheeling around as he begins his launch into flight … a choice made to turn the shores of the cattle pond into a pleasing gold background pattern and this is one of the thousands of shots taken on a cool morning. Bluebirds do not signal a takeoff like larger birds do, so it requires a lot of shots taken when you think they might take off to make sure you don’t miss the takeoff and consequently an untold number of shots that hit the bit bucket when going through the days shoot. My keep rate is about 7% on a Bluebird shoot and sometimes less, but oh, the beauty of those I get to keep.

Below is an early evening aerial shot of the Sedona area … West Sedona is already in shadow and it extends about half way up Mt. Wilson. The airport is center right and Oak Creek Canyon is to the right of airport mesa and to the left of it is the Loop area. Oak Creek flows down out of the canyon and along the right side base of Airport Mesa, through the loop area and down to the Verde River east of Cottonwood. Cathedral Rock is below and just right of Airport Mesa and dominating the horizon are the San Francisco Peaks and just right of them Mt. Elden.

A beautiful day and some incredible storms in the Cottonwood area this afternoon … had coffee with a friend whilst my vehicle was being worked on and when we drove back to the dealership the roads were rivers and some incredible wakes were being thrown up. I love storms and the bigger the better.

Have a beautiful day and enjoy all the beauty that surrounds us and smile … like why not?

    Cheers,

    Ted

The grass of the meadow and the stars of the night
comfort me. Though darkness overcome me, I shall
not despair; the God of my youth still abides with me.
He showeth me the palaces of the rich and the haunts
of the poor, yet keepeth sweet my soul. When weariness
overtakes me, I lie down in slumber, and the peace of
    the world is upon me.
