On Saturday, August 14 more than 70 people attended an evening of music hosted by the Sedonya Conscious Living Center in Sedona featuring a visiting group of Tibetan Buddhist Monks, sharing their wisdom and spiritual teachings through music.
During the presentation the monks played various instruments including drums, cymbals, horns and and bells and sang beautiful songs in their native tongue, interweaving harmonies and chants that enthralled and mesmerized the audience, heightening their spiritual experience and meditative experience.
Watching them sing and play was a special treat as they seemed to merge as one as they performed their mystical, sacred music that combines multi-phonic chanting, music including pieces are drawn from authentic temple dances, performed for thousands of years in Tibet.
Their vocal harmonies and the way they interplayed their vocalizations and words was amazing. They even speed chanted like musicians do today, but in their own language. There were back and-forth interplays between cymbals and drums that worked on the unconscious and created a deep sense of relxation and connection.
At the end of the concert, everyone left feeling blessed and appreciative of the monks’ beautiful performance.
