Sedona AZ (May 28, 2021) – Due to low COVID-19 case rates, ongoing vaccination efforts and updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, effective May 26, 2021, Mayor Sandy Moriarty’s Proclamation of Emergency due to the COVID-19 public health emergency is rescinded, ending the mask requirement in city government buildings and on public transportation.
Mayor Moriarty first proclaimed a local emergency relating to the COVID-19 pandemic on March 18, 2020. The June 2020 Emergency Proclamation originally included a mask mandate for the entire city limits, but was amended in March 2021 to only require masks when in city government buildings and on public transportation.
Please note: businesses, including transit systems, may still require masks.

“COVID-19 cases have significantly dropped and vaccination rates continue to go up, so it is appropriate to rescind the Emergency Proclamation. If things worsen in the future, I always have the option to reinstate it,” said Moriarty.
