    By Ted Grussing

… six AM found us launching the boat at the main ramp on the south end of Lake Pleasant this morning and the usual morning wind from the north was blowing causing white caps to appear on the water. Turf Soaring was only about four miles from the launch ramp and this phenomenon was well known to us. In the mornings the cold dense air rolls down off the Colorado Plateau into the desert and mid morning the wind direction changes as the desert warms up … thermals begin late morning to early afternoon and soaring is possible.

At any rate, progress was a little slow heading up to the Castle Creek area of the lake … not much fun being pounded by the waves. Our first stop once we got up to the relatively quiet waters of the north end of the lake was the owl nest. The owls are gone and fledged sometime between Saturday and this morning … wishing them all a great life wherever they are.

In one of the coves we came across a Green Heron and he played with us for awhile before getting out of Dodge. They are a seldom seen bird in this area and are a solitary type species. Click on the green type to learn more about this remarkable little creature.

Another beautiful day lived … today will more than likely be terrific too … all I have to do is choose for it to be so! Smile, keep breathing and check out the creatures who live around and among you 🙂

    Cheers,

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

    Compassion Has no Party

Whether you are Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative, one truth remains: the vast majority of people on this planet are, at their core, decent. They believe in fairness, in dignity, and in the simple idea that other human beings matter.
