League of Women VotersSedona AZ (March 4, 2021) – Dr. Sharon Megdal, Director of the Water Resources Research Center at the University of Arizona, will speak on complex water issues in our region and efforts to address them on Monday, March 22, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM via ZOOM.  She notes, “These problems are too big for easily identifiable and/or ‘standard’ solutions and may reflect underlying societal or political issues.  There are often differing viewpoints as to the causes and/or potential pathways to mitigating the challenges.” Co-sponsors for this event include OLLI at Yavapai College, Friends of the Verde River, Keep Sedona Beautiful, and Northern AZ Climate Change Alliance.

Dr. Megdal received her advanced degrees in Economics from Princeton University. Her work at the University of Arizona focuses on water management, policy, and governance in water-scarce areas of the world, in the Middle East as well as Arizona.  She currently serves as Board President of the International Arid Lands Consortium, as well as Board Member of the American Water Resources Association.

This Voter Education Program is free and everyone is welcome.   To register and receive the ZOOM link, please send an email to lwvnaz@gmail.com.
