    … the minutes before sunset are the minutes when the magic of Sedona is visible and the red rocks take on a mystical glow … the clouds throw long shadows and all you can think of is how beautiful and special this place is and wow! I really live here! For many, they get to visit here … and then the sun sets behind Mingus Mountain above Cottonwood and the glow is extinguished as the shadows climb up the rocks and spread over the plateau … as the city is engulfed in dark shadow, the clouds remain illuminated with increasing pinks and reds before going grey and the terminator line between day and night moves west over the city and the night arrives again.

    The photo encompasses a lot of West Sedona and the entrance to Oak Creek Canyon. On the far left is is the eastern side of Long Canyon, right of and below center is Chimney Rock, left and above it is Thunder Mountain and above that is Wilson Mountain. On the right side are the Sedona Mittens and the area between the Mittens and Wilson is the entrance to Oak Creek Canyon which takes a left turn behind Wilson Mountain and heads north towards Flagstaff. A portion of SR 89A is visible on the right hand side of the photo, along with Basha’s and Safeway shopping centers to the left of 89A. On the horizon right of center is Mormon Mountain and behind it is Mormon Lake.

    I love this place! Have a beautiful day, keep breathing and smiling … share your joy with those you meet and greet … smiles are very contagious and in a very good way.

    Cheers,

    Ted

    Let me forgive much, forget more;
    Let me close my eyes and fall half asleep,
    That the pictures may grow softer and stiller,
    And the life, O thou God! again grow gentle.
