Become a Keep Sedona Beautiful Forever Friend
Sedona AZ (October 16, 2020) – Keep Sedona Beautiful is looking for litter lifter volunteers to cover two open, mile-long stretches of road. The open routes include a portion of 179 and another that starts at the top of Red Rock Loop, from the high school, and continues to the bottom of the hill.
“Litter lifters are a vital group of KSB volunteers who give of their time, regularly, to keep our main roads in Sedona as free from litter as possible,” said Carla Williams, who heads up the program and is also a KSB Executive Board member. “I can’t tell you how lucky we are to have people commit to this endeavor,” she added. “Our litter lifters do such a great job that some people are unaware we even have a litter problem in Sedona.”
KSB had had some research done to find out where litter originates. As a result of that research, the organization found a direct correlation between the amount of litter on Sedona roads and the presence of tourists.
Levels of litter tend to fluctuate over the year. But the advent of COVID-19 has brought new challenges and new types of litter to add to what has currently been discarded.
How can you help? Become a KSB Forever Friend (we won’t hold you to “forever”) and keep your designated route regularly free of litter. KSB will provide all equipment needed.
What do you get in return? Amazing scenery, a sense of accomplishment and contribution, and plenty of outdoor exercise.
