Yavapai County Sheriff's OfficePrescott AZ (August 24, 2020) – Recently, a citizen who received a phone call requesting to verify voter information records contacted the Yavapai County Recorder’s Office to determine if this is the normal course of business.

Yavapai County Recorder Leslie Hoffmann provides the following information:

‘The Yavapai County Recorder’s Office, Voter Registration or Election Department will never call and ask for any personal information pertaining to your voter registration records. Additionally, please do not provide your Driver’s License or Voter ID number should you be asked. You can always call the Yavapai County Recorder/Voter Registration Department at 928-771-3248 or email us at web.voter.registration@yavapai.us should you want to verify your voter registration records.’

This has been a scam around the country for years. Please share this notification with those who may not have access to local media release information. Again, the best defense against these scammers is to simply hang up the phone and not engage further.

Additional information from the Federal Trade Commission is available in a 2008 media release at the following link:

    Whack – A – Mole War

It looks like the tried-and-true method of armed conflict where armies face each other and kill until somebody wins or gives up, now all it takes is assassinating the leadership Israeli style. We enter a new phase of war where the leaders are killed first rather than last as in conventional warfare.
