… and that is exactly what this hen quail was doing as she left a higher perch for a lower one with better prospects of food. Took this shot Saturday morning over at Eric’s with my new Canon 1DX MK III and absolutely love the camera; the tracking capabilities of the camera are absolutely awesome and the sensor is virtually noise free even at higher ISO settings. It is definitely more than a few steps above my original 1DX MK I bodies, but they are with technology from 8 years ago … they are great cameras’ though.

Something more than 3,000 shots with the new camera over the weekend, now pared down to 139 photos and more will make their way into the bit bucket. Someone recently told me that your portfolio is no better than the worst two images in it. I have been very diligent in deleting the “almost” perfect shots and only have in the order of 30,000 images including scanned photos and all my digital images from the last 21 years of digital shooting … time to revisit the archives again and delete many more photos … I would like my worst two images to be my best!

We’re into another new day and week … probably a good idea to make it the best week you have ever had too … always our choice … we control how we perceive and react to the events of each moment.

    Cheers, smile and keep breathing!

… though behind you lies a road of dust and heat, and
before you the fear of untried paths, in this brief hour
you are master of all highways, and the universe nestles in your soul.
Therefore, in the night, sit still a while and dream awake, ere you lie down to sleep.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
