I took this shot in January on a late afternoon flight on the east side of the San Francisco Peaks … in the left foreground you have a beautiful look at Sunset Crater with the view that I get of it; due to a collapse of part of the crater rim on the east side the caldera is heart shaped and this is a feature you will never see from the ground and that along with its sometime reddish color makes it the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day.

Chocolate hearts work really well too … big boxes of them. Afterwards you can always book an appointment with the good Dr. Bill at Sedona Dental Arts … rather than promote his business with a candy dish in the waiting room, he actively discourages the consumption of sweets … oh well. The painted desert is above the volcanic field in the photo and the crater on the far left is Roden Crater, the art project of James Turrell. Pretty sure that the road going out to the east on the right side is Leupp Road.

The salon on Saturday went well and we had fun … abstracts and Imagined were the images shown and discussed. That was the last of the salons, but Andrea and I are beginning to put some other ideas together. One would involve a smaller venue and the art of compositing would be the subject. Perhaps present three or four photographs and as a group decide what to do to meld all into a single image and why the choices made are made … what message we are attempting to convey with the image. I will do one with the images prior to the workshop and we’ll compare images and thoughts when the workshop image is done. Will not be until after the first of the year and will keep you posted.

Spent several hours on my book today and with any kind of luck I’ll have it done and published by the end of the month. Looks like about 100 color photographs and images full page bleed in 8.5 x 11.0 format. Price will be $39.95 which for a book like this and with that many color images is very reasonable. Hoping to have it ready so that it can be used for Christmas gifts. Each photograph and image will have commentary such as I use in these missives.

I watched the 1970 movie “On a Clear Day” tonight and once again enjoyed it … what a love story it is and the interaction between the characters is amazing and the love story beautiful … Marc Chabot played by Yves Montand only has 24 more years to wait :+) Beautiful thoughts and love continues … who knows … the people we meet … the certainty that we have met before … the journey continues.

A very busy week coming up … calendars are available and will be starting to ship them this week. $25.00 each including all expenses of getting it to you. A very quiet next weekend is planned.

We’re into Monday, enjoy each moment of the day and share your joy … smile …

    Ted

I go out into the night and stretch forth my arms, as
if to embrace one I love
…the solace of the stars is sweet, and the stillness has a voice I understand
