Sedona, AZ — Stroke can affect us at any age, but as we get older the risks increase and it becomes a leading cause of death in seniors. Stroke kills more women than men in the US, but many strokes are preventable and treatable. The Sedona Women are pleased to present STROKE AWARENESS. PREVENTION AND RECOVERY on Thursday, October 8th at 10 am, at the Community Library Sedona, where TSW programs are scheduled monthly every second Thursday from September through May from 9:30 a.m. to noon. This program is designed to give you information on some of our state’s best stroke care and networks, for yourself and your family, the early warning signs of stroke, state of the art treatments, recovery and rehabilitation to continue life successfully after stroke.
Dr. Hrdlicka, vascular neurologist and Medical Director of the SW region Mayo Clinic Telestroke Network, will address the technology in stroke care, and how to best prevent reocurring strokes.
Dr. Kale, board certified neurologist, specializing in vascular neurology and neurocritical care at Abrazos Health acute-care network in the greater Phoenix area, will address the timely critical care stroke network of the greater Phoenix area of which Abrazos Health is a key player, various treatments of stroke, brain aneurysms, malformations and more from brain to spinal cord that fall under the neurological critical care and stroke treatment arena.
Mark Ritter, Occupational Therapist at Verde Valley EntireCare and Sports Medicine, with specializations in hand, stroke and Parkinson’s therapies, will present the positive aspects and treatments of rehabilitation and recovery for stroke patients as well as emphasizing warning signals that can help prevent more serious stroke cases.
These three medical experts will help us understand our personal ability to be prepared for strokes as one of the leading causes of death in seniors and the third leading cause of death in women. They will also give us insight into treatment and care, rehabilitation and recovery in many unique technologies, aspects and specialties available to us in Arizona.
