Sedona, AZ — The City of Sedona proudly announces that Chance Wnuck, Emergency Management Coordinator for the Sedona Police Department, received the prestigious “Rising Star” award from the Arizona Association of Emergency Managers. He was also selected to be the associations secretary for a two-year term.
As Sedona’s first dedicated Emergency Management Coordinator, Wnuck has transformed the city’s approach to public safety in just under a year. He has built strong partnerships with county agencies, local fire districts, and the Forest Service, and has led critical initiatives such as intergovernmental agreements and community education programs.
Wnuck’s expertise was vital during the White Sage and Dragon Bravo fires, where his on-scene leadership and planning helped coordinate multi-agency responses to protect lives and infrastructure during these historic incidents.
With a background in regional emergency management and advanced credentials—including service with the Arizona Incident Management Assistance Team and a master’s degree in leadership—Wnuck is setting new standards for preparedness and resilience in Sedona.

The “Rising Star” award recognizes outstanding professionals in emergency management who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to public safety early in their careers.
