CAMP VERDE, Ariz. — After seeing the Sedona community welcome the Spring Thrifty events
with open arms in 2025 and 2026, Verde Valley Sanctuary (VVS) announced they are set to host
the inaugural “Fall Thrifty” event in Camp Verde.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, VVS will welcome the local Verde Valley community to their Twice Nice
Thriftique location in Camp Verde, where for every three items donated, attendees will receive
a raffle ticket that they can enter into a drawing for a prize. Visitors will be able to purchase
more raffle tickets for entry into the drawing if they choose.
And new to the Fall Thrifty, community members will have a chance to participate in a 50/50
raffle, which will be hosted by the great folks at the Greater Verde Valley Chamber of
    Commerce.
Attendees will not need to be present to win either raffle.
Roberta Alegria, store manager for Twice Nice in Camp Verde, said events like the Fall Thrifty
help spread the word about Verde Valley Sanctuary’s mission to community members who may
not know the full scope of how they help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
“In addition to helping fund the program, the thrift stores provide clothing, furniture, and
household goods for survivors,” Alegria said.
VVS Executive Director Jessye Johnson mirrored Alegria’s sentiments.

    P.O. Box 595, Sedona, AZ 86339 928-282-2755 VerdeValleySanctuary.org
“The Thrifty events are a fun way to bring the community together and learn more about the
mission of Verde Valley Sanctuary,” Johnson said. “It’s been a pleasure for our staff from
different parts of the organization to get an opportunity to engage with community members in
    a fun and relaxing way.”
Alegria said attendees on Oct. 3 will find plenty of items at a good price, and there should also
be some unique finds for those thrifty goers out there. Not to mention, most items in the store
    will be marked 50% off.
“Everyone loves the fun earrings we carry,” Alegria said. “This will be a fun environment with
both staff and volunteers ready to have a good time with the community. We love to help
    people shop!”
The Fall Thrifty event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Camp Verde, 527 S. Main St., and
feature two food trucks, with Bushmaster BBQ on hand to serve their top culinary treats
including brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork and their signature Arizona Twinkies. Also on site
will be Samantha Daissy Sweets, which specializes in street-style snacks including vasos locos
and mini churro donuts to colorful paletas locas, elote bars, nacho bars, chacuterie cups,
    tropical lemonades and more.
Entertainment wise, Yavapai Broadcasting is scheduled for a live remote radio visit from KKLD
The Cloud 95.9 FM along with their booth and famous prize wheel, and Kaleidoscope Redrocks,
a multi-instrumentalist sister duo out of Sedona, will play their best tunes into the afternoon.
“With the success of the Spring Thrifty events in 2025 and 2026, we felt this would be a great
opportunity to bring the ‘Fall Thrifty’ to the Camp Verde community,” VVS Development and
Communications Director Brian Bergner said, adding that the event coincides with October’s
    national Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“We’re excited to welcome the community to our upcoming Fall Thrifty event, a day filled with
live music, food, shopping and plenty of fun for the whole family,” Bergner said. “But this event
is about more than just having a good time. We are proud to be at the forefront of providing
safety and support for survivors in our community. We believe raising awareness about
domestic violence is one of the most powerful tools we have to create change.”
With that, VVS’ outreach and lay legal team will be on site to answer any questions community
    members might have.

VVS began more than three decades ago as a grassroots organization of women who were
concerned about domestic violence in the community. The original group of volunteers began
taking crisis calls in their homes and transporting victims of abuse to the nearest shelters 50-
plus miles away in Flagstaff, Prescott, and Phoenix.
Thanks to generous donations from the community, VVS opened the first domestic violence
shelter in the Verde Valley region in 1993 with a leased modular home that slept six. Since then,
VVS has strategically expanded and now offers comprehensive services for survivors of
domestic and sexual violence in both residential and community-based formats.
The Twice Nice Thriftiques in Camp Verde and Sedona account for about 20-25% of the
agency’s annual operating budget, assisting VVS in executing its mission to provide safety,
services, and comfort to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
In fiscal year 2025-26, Verde Valley Sanctuary provided services to more than 1,500 survivors of
domestic violence and sexual assault, including nearly 7,600 bed nights and answering almost
1,300 crisis hotline calls. Since 2020, VVS has housed 150 clients in emergency shelter on
average per year and doubled the number of survivors served in transitional housing since
    2025.
    PARKING AND DONATIONS
During the Twice Nice Fall Thrifty event, the storefront parking lot in Camp Verde will largely be
closed off except for those who will be driving through to donate their items. All community
members who would like to stay and enjoy the festivities are being asked to use either the
Main St. parking area spaces that run along the store on the east side of the street, or park in
the Yavapai Title Agency lot, which is directly across from Twice Nice Camp Verde on Fain St.
