SEDONA, Ariz. – The city of Sedona seeks residents and nearby business representatives to apply to participate on the new Parking Work Group, which will advise city staff on the city’s ongoing parking management efforts in the Uptown and Gallery Row area.

More specifically, the Parking Work Group will assist city staff in addressing near-term employee parking challenges and needs, the possible implementation of paid parking in city-managed surface parking lots and associated fee structures, deployment of new parking technologies, enforcement priorities, wayfinding and other parking initiatives that are unique to this business area. The group will also provide input on longer-term parking investment strategies, operational improvements and policy development focused on the Uptown and Gallery Row area. The strategies that the work group advises on will improve circulation, access and overall customer experience while supporting residents, employees, visitors and local businesses.

The Parking Work Group will also help inform recommendations brought forward by city staff for consideration by City Council.

Work group composition and time commitment

The Parking Work Group is expected to include 5–7 business representatives (including property owners, business owners or employees) and 1–2 resident representatives.

Meetings are expected to begin in early 2026 and will be held primarily on weekdays. The group is anticipated to meet bi-weekly initially and then transition to monthly and quarterly meetings as needed, with additional sessions during major implementation phases. The city anticipates the group will meet for up to two years, after which the need for continued meetings will be reevaluated.

A tentative schedule for the first two meetings includes:

    • Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, 1 to 3 p.m. – Introduction, overview of parking initiatives, roles and expectations and discussion of employee parking challenges for the Uptown and Gallery Row area.
    • Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, 1 to 3 p.m. – Review of potential fee structure scenarios for City-managed parking and discussion of employee parking challenges and potential solutions.

    How to apply

City of Sedona residents and business representatives in the Uptown and Gallery Row area who are interested in serving on the Parking Work Group must apply by 5 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2026. Interested applicants should apply at www.sedonaaz.gov/citizenengagement; tap on “Volunteer Registry,” fill out the form and check the “Transit/Parking” interest box. Questions can be directed to Parking Administrator David Velasco at dvelasco@sedonaaz.gov  or 928-203-5161.

Additional information about current parking opportunities is available at www.sedonaaz.gov/parking.
